Hi John,

29 Billion dollar write down, egg donation and a gutted basement with no access to the elliptical trainer might be on Colin's mind lately. I can't speak for him, and I have asked him "Have you posted lately?" to which he answers "no". But I can say that he's been doing really well in the eating category and he looks good to me. I'm not sure why he's disappeared... maybe you should give him call!

I have a few movie ideas for you... some of them are recent-ish, but by no means new releases.

1. Finding Neverland - With Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Set in London, the true story of the writing of Peter Pan story. Very lush and well written. Kate winslet is fabulous.

2. Stranger than Fiction - A pseudo serious role for Will Ferrell, this is a GREAT story about a guy who discovers he isn't just a person... he's a character in a novel. Hilarious supporting role by Dustin Hoffman.

3. Garden State - Zach Braff and Natalie Portman... a love story, really lovely and quirky with GREAT music. Directed by Zach Braff as well. One of my favorites.

4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - OOOOH SO GOOD! Kate Winslet again and Jim Carrey. Not a comedy, but a love story about a devasting love affair and a company that has the technology to erase people's painful memories. Jim Carrey is REALLY good in this. I forget it's him.

5. Sideways - A she-she buddy movie about two guys who go on a road trip into wine country. Hilarious ... starring Paul Giamatti who is one of my favorite actors of all time right now.

6. You Can Count on Me - Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo in a family drama... Laura Linney is one of the best around as well... they are brother and sister having a tough time. It's what I'd call a "small" movie... all about the fantastic performances. I saw it like five years ago and I can't let it go. Matthew Broderick has a great supporting role.

7. Election - Speaking of Matthew Broderick... this is an AWESOME movie. I love it. Just get it and watch it.

8. Bill Murray... should I launch into my favorites? OK here goes.
a) Rushmore - love it
b) The Royal Tenenbaums - with the Wilson Brothers, Gene Hackman, Angelica Huston, Ben Stiller... if you don't like Rushmore, you might not like this. Weird and wonderful family comedy.
C) Lost in Translation - lovely lovely lovely... lovely lovely lovely... Not for unsubtle. Mike hated it. One of my favorite films of all time.
D) Don't rent Broken FLowers - terribl knock off of L in T.
E) Stripes. Still hilarious. See it again.
F) The much controversial - "Life Aquatic" ... I really like this oddball film and so did Colin. It isn't a normal movie. Since yoiu like Napolean Dynamite... you'll probably get it.

9. L.A. Story- a quirky love story with SO MANY tiny bits of intellectual humor you have to pay attention. It's a knock off of lots of good Shakespeare. Favorite lines: "I'm hot from running now!" and "Finally. A funny gravedigger." Steve Martin at his best.

10. The Shipping News - Kevin Spacey and others in a bleak story. I loved the book better, but this is a good adaptation.

I'm a fan of Taco Bell too. I read that the Fresco tacos are not too bad. I'm doing the weight watchers points system and each taco is only 3 points.

Good luck with the weight loss!

Hey that's the PERFECT diet idea... We should write a book about it!!!! "30 Days to Slim... Only Eat What you Kill."

I should have given you the last three bites of my lasagne... I was full and I only kept eating because it was DELICIOUS!

We are scheduled for a hike with Lisa at Webb Mountain this weekend. I know we've got things to do but we also need to get our butts in some exercise. I hope the weather clears up!

You don't do everything I say... do you? Blech.

Weird how food starts to take on a different meaning once you start totting it up. Today I ate:
Half a muffin.
Half a cup of coffee with half and half and half spoon of sugar
A Insta-Easy Mac. (Tired of leftovers, even if they do taste better Mac n cheese is such comfort food!)
A handful of SunChips... Sour Cream and Onion Flavor.
About 12 smoked almonds
Am about to partake of Colin's next attempt at lasagne.

Nothing green at all today! (well the bag the Sunchips were in was green.) That's no bueno.

Interestingly I feel GREAT today.

You go, dude! I figure heck, Mom's birthday dinner must have set you back 5 pounds, right there. And the bread trick is cool too.

I am not at any rate a success in weight loss, but I think you can't think about "bad eating habits" as "demons returning." After all, it's just food. It's just one day. As you said in an earlier post, you lost 1.4 pounds on another week and didn't even know why!

I don't think men, generally speaking, get the memo that they too, like women, have hormonal shifts in their bodies that are cyclical and affect their cravings and food needs and desires. One weekend I PIGGED OUT on crap and found I lost a pound... then realized it was two days before my cycle started. Sure it is more cut and dried for chicks, but enough studies...http://www.altpenis.com/penis_news/male_period.shtml .. have been done to show women aren't alone here.

So embrace your demons, like your enemy... keep them close and you'll get to know them better!

Yes, I have noticed a definite increase in flatulence along with my new more fruit and veggie diet. And this is from someone who had no lack of it to begin with.

This is the kind of stuff the Surgeon General should warn people about.
